Meet Potato

I met this handsome fellow a few years back at my first hair sparkling appointment. I had just recently completed my animal communication course, and had practiced for a few weeks with friends’ pets and the pets of my children’s friends. I was still in awe and wonder over how well it was going, and when Potato’s person Sarah asked me what I did, I decided to test my confidence and talk about animal communication. I gave her my info and wondered if she would ever reach out.
Within a few days, I received a text that Potato wasn’t feeling too well, and could I try to connect with him? Potato had visited the vet ER prior to the call, but the doctor’s couldn’t determine what was going on. I remember that I could see he had a block in his digestive system, and that it was white. I asked Sarah if he could have eaten sock? I shared the info I received and hoped that I wasn’t too far off base, this being my first attempt at a health diagnostic check. Turns out, Potato did have a white block in his system, but it was a chunk of rawhide bone, not a sock, and he was able to clear it not long after.
Potato and I have also connected a few times over behavioral quirks and about his history prior to coming to live with Sarah. With this easy familiarity between us, I was able to quickly help Potato again in June with a health issue. Potato was suddenly collapsing and not able to walk off and on over the course of a few days. Additionally, when he did collapse, he was super anxious and resistant to being carried anywhere. He preferred to stay on the floor partially hidden rather than receive any help. The vets were not able to determine the cause, and before pursuing more testing, Sarah reached out to me to see if I could find the issue and clarify which way to take the testing.
Lo and behold, the issue was ancestral! Potato’s dad had suffered a back injury in his life and that trauma frequency was getting triggered in Potato. His dad was full of grief after his back injury over the feeling of not being able to “do his job anymore”, and Potato was starting to feel the same way after some blurring of his vision with cataracts and various aging aches. Sweet Potato was struggling with his feelings that he could be or should be replaced and that he was no longer able to be Sarah’s protector. He was willing to release all of these heavy emotions and statements from his physical, emotional, and mental bodies, as well as his ancestral line. I also reassured Potato that no matter his physical condition, his ultimate job as a loving companion for Sarah is the only role she needs fulfilled and that he can give her that love and receive her love no matter his capabilities in his canine body.
Since that time, I’m happy to report that Potato has not collapsed again, and what could have been a long and ultimately frustrating process of medical testing was avoided! Potato will always hold a special place in my heart as “my first official client” and it’s an honor to hold space for his brave lionheart!
